Tongits is more than just a card game — it's a Filipino tradition. Whether you used to play it during town fiestas, family reunions, or long barrio nights, 0kplay now brings it to your phone anytime, anywhere. Real players, real stakes, real fun.
If you grew up in the Philippines, there's a good chance you learned Tongits before you even finished grade school. It's a three-player rummy-style card game that uses a standard 52-card deck, and the goal is simple: get rid of all your cards before the other players do, or hold the lowest total point value when the game ends.
What makes Tongits so distinctly Filipino isn't just where it came from — it's the culture around it. Families play it during fiestas. Barkadas play it on lazy Sunday afternoons. Drivers kill time during breaks with a quick round. It's fast, competitive, and deeply social. The online version on 0kplay captures that same energy, putting you at a table with real players from all over the Philippines, all competing for real money.
Unlike other card games that can take an hour or more, a round of Tongits usually wraps up in under 15 minutes. That makes it perfect for mobile gaming — you can squeeze in a game during your commute, on your lunch break, or while waiting for your Grab delivery to arrive. 0kplay has optimised the entire experience for smartphones, so the interface is clean, responsive, and easy to navigate even on smaller screens.
The game itself rewards a mix of skill and strategy. You're not just drawing cards randomly — you're watching what other players pick up and discard, managing your hand to form sets and runs, deciding when to call a draw, and judging the right moment to declare Tongits. Experienced players on 0kplay know that patience and observation are just as important as the cards you're holding.

Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned Tongits veteran, here's a clear breakdown of how the game plays out.
Tongits is a three-player game. The dealer receives 13 cards; the other two players each receive 12. The remaining cards form the draw pile in the centre. The dealer makes the first move.
On your turn, either draw from the deck or pick up the top card from the discard pile. Then discard one card from your hand face-up onto the discard pile. Players may also lay down sets or runs (called melds) during their turn.
A meld is three or more cards of the same rank (a set) or three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (a run). You can also play "Sapaw" — adding cards to any player's existing meld on the table.
If you manage to discard all your cards, you win by declaring "Tongits!" This is the highest-value win in the game. On 0kplay, Tongits wins pay out at the top multiplier and earn bonus chips.
Any player can challenge the current player to "fight" by calling a draw. All players reveal their remaining cards. The player with the lowest total deadwood (unmelded card points) wins.
If the draw pile runs out before anyone wins, the game ends automatically and goes to a count. This is called "Pasada" — all hands are compared and the lowest deadwood count takes the pot.
| Card | Point Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ace (A) | 1 point | Lowest value — great card to hold |
| 2 through 9 | Face value (2–9 pts) | Standard numbered cards |
| 10, Jack, Queen, King | 10 points each | High-value deadwood — meld or discard early |
| Melded cards | 0 points | Cards laid down as sets/runs don't count as deadwood |
Not all wins are created equal in Tongits. Here's how the win types rank on 0kplay, from the biggest payout to the smallest.
You discard your last card with no deadwood remaining. Instantly wins the entire pot plus bonus multiplier.
You call or survive a draw and have the lowest deadwood count among all three players.
Draw pile runs out. Lowest deadwood wins but the payout is typically lower than a Llamado win.
Your deadwood count is higher than the winner's. You pay according to the difference in points.
Getting melds on the table reduces your deadwood and pressure. Here are the valid meld types on 0kplay Tongits.
Three cards of the same rank, regardless of suit. E.g., 7♠ 7♥ 7♦. Can be extended to four-of-a-kind.
Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. E.g., 5♠ 6♠ 7♠. Minimum three cards required.
Play a card onto any existing meld on the table — even an opponent's. Great for getting rid of awkward cards fast.
These tips come from players who've spent serious time at the Tongits tables. Learn the patterns and you'll be winning more often than not.
Every card you put down as a meld is a card that no longer counts against you in a draw. Don't sit on melds waiting for a perfect hand — get them on the table as soon as you can.
The discard pile tells you a lot about what other players need. If someone picks up a 7, they're probably building a 7-set or a run. Knowing this helps you avoid giving them what they need.
Jacks, Queens, Kings, and 10s are worth 10 points each in deadwood. If you can't meld them, discard them early. Holding three face cards with no meld potential is a recipe for losing a draw.
Sapaw onto other players' melds to offload deadwood. If someone has laid down K♠ K♥ K♦, you can add K♣ to their meld — removing a 10-point card from your hand instantly.
If your deadwood is below 10 points and you suspect opponents are holding high cards, calling Llamado can lock in a win. Don't wait for Tongits if the draw is already in your favour.
When another player is close to Tongits, it's tempting to panic and discard randomly. Stay focused, manage your hand systematically, and look for Sapaw opportunities to reduce your count fast.

Most 0kplay Tongits players are on their phones, and that's exactly how the game was built to be enjoyed. The mobile interface is designed so everything fits perfectly on a standard screen — your hand, the discard pile, the meld area, and the opponent hands are all visible without any zooming or awkward scrolling.
Game actions — draw, discard, meld, Sapaw, and calling Llamado — are all single taps. The animations are smooth but quick, so a round doesn't drag. Even on 4G or a moderate Wi-Fi connection, you won't experience lag or disconnections.
One feature 0kplay players especially appreciate is the reconnect system. If your connection drops mid-game, the app automatically reconnects you within seconds and your cards are exactly as you left them. You won't lose your buy-in or your position at the table because of a brief signal drop.
